This year we are celebrating the Dragon’s Feast…a project involving 1,000 plates, comprised of 50 sets of 20. All handmade and hand decorated, with 50 different designs. The 1,000 plates were then taken out into yard, behind the kiln, and meticulously laid out to form the shape of a life size dragon… 50 feet by 40 feet. 2021 Holiday Sale, Exhibit and Reception.
What a very exciting year! This fall and winter we will enjoy the ‘Persian Routes’ exhibit at The Winds, a reception, and our Holiday Sale at the Pottery. We will feature electric fired(from London), gas fired, and wood fired pottery. We will have catalogues from the show for purchase.
‘Persian Routes’ exhibition at the Winds. During the first lockdown, our family was situated in London, and this body of work was the result of being quarantined in the flat for 3 1/2 months. Each piece was meticulously studied, decorated, then fired when we were free to leave the flat. The collection is a study of 11-17th century Persian ceramics, and has just finished being exhibited at the Southern Ohio Museum. Enjoy the collection, and a Persian dish on the menu , served on our plates.
2021 Holiday Kiln Sale Three weekends. November 26, 27, 28. December 3,4,5 and 10, 11, 12. 10am-5pm. This year we feature works fired in the wood kiln, gas kiln, and electric kiln. We will have some Persian inspired pots, along with our traditional domestic ware. ‘Persian Routes’ catalogues will be available for purchase.
‘Persian Routes’ Opening Reception Sunday December 12th 6pm-8pm, Winds Cafe, 215 Xenia Ave, Yellow Springs. Naysan will give a talk about the research, the techniques, and the inspiration. Masks will be required, there will no food, but the bar will be open. We will be selling the accompanying ‘Persian Routes’ catalogue to help commemorate the event.

This ring we are focused on making pottery that celebrates the family experience in the kitchen. As we face challenging times together, we gather in the kitchen, cook with meaning, set the table, share the moment, and create memories.
When setting your table, consider the Japanese concept of Mingei, where objects of beauty are created for every day use to enhance your culinary experience.
We have created casserole dishes, bread bakers, tajines, ruf ed pie plates, bread pans, and dinnerware with these concepts in mind. Included in the pieces are recipes we love — we also encourage you to share recipes of your favorite dishes with us when you come!

We will be open during the weekdays too. Call for a personal appointment.
We ask that you come dressed warmly with masks. We will keep the doors open for ventilation and have some of the work outside near the kiln, to encourage distancing.

Help Us celebrate the new works from the ‘Raptors and Songbirds’ firing. We have a show at the Winds Cafe till New year, and a kiln opening sale at the Pottery. We are very excited about the new birds on platters, plates and serving bowls. There is a lot of beautiful porcelain work too. Feel free to call if you are unable to make it either weekend, we will be available through the Holidays. We are able to ship very easily. Be safe and Happy Holidays.
This Spring we produced 2500 bowls, 50 sets of 50… all with Birds on them. This photo was taken with a drone, after taking 2,000 bowls out to the yard to create this mosaic. Come see the new works!
We're calling it 'The Floral Firing'. Every piece is decorated with some sort of flower. Some are abstract, many are detailed interpretations of flowers from the garden... some even have birds and bees! There are a lot of colors, textures, slips, and glaze combos... a lot of experimentation. Much of the kiln is fired porcelain, and the color loves being on the bright white background.
